The Old Keilor Hotel
Red Lion Bar

James Smith purchased the Galway Arms Hotel in 1854, being a good Scotsman he could not run a Hotel with an Irish name so he changed the name to the most Scottish of symbols the Red Lion from the Scottish flag. We acknowledge his involvement by naming our bar after his Red Lion We have kept the feel of his Hotel, the open fire, the bare board floor and those acid etched doors in the corner of the bar, which was supposedly designed to assist in the rapid ejection of unruly patrons - of course we have no need of them today Imagine the topics of conversation since those days, the invention of electricity, refrigeration, telephones, automobiles, aeroplanes, radio, television The chances of every Melbourne Cup Winner, every game of Australian Rules Football, every Ashes Match Celebrations for "striking it rich "at the Gold diggings, for the birth of a son or daughter, for the wedding, for the christening, for a life now over WE HAVE LOTS OF REASONS TO ENJOY A PINT
